Hit Counter is a very basic webmaster tool or widget. Look at my Hits Counter that I'd placed below my blog's header. It's not only helps to trace how many times your blog or site was being visited, but also make your site looks more professional. If your counter recorded higher hits, people will thought your site is attractive because of high traffic. In fact, it's not very true, because when you initial the counter, you have option to set the initial hits with higher number.

Try the one which is very matching to your blog or site design. Once you have finished selecting your options, an HTML code will be generated. Just copy the HTML code to your site, and let it run by itself. I would say no further maintainance job will be needed, and so far, it's quite stable. So, hope you enjoy my 5 cents here.
