Earth Day friendly dating ideas

April 22nd 2010 is Earth Day so do something different and plan an eco friendly date. Being ‘green’ or environmentally friendly is becoming more important to people as we are more aware of how our simple actions affect the environment.
You might think that an eco friendly date means a cheap one that you won't enjoy, but that isn't the case at all? Yes, some of our tips require less or no money involved but who says it won't be a fun date in the end? With a little bit of know how and effort you can go green on a date while having the time of your life.

Plan your own Earth hour
If you prefer staying in then get those candles out and turn everything off like you've done during Earth Hour. If it gets hot, especially without air conditioning, use some ice cubes to cool each other down, or brave that cold shower together. There's more than one way to keep cool at home and exploring some of these options are half the fun. Plus, you'll get the ultimate intimate session with nothing much around to distract you.
Getting ready
Instead of wasting energy by using the water heater, step into the shower and have a cold one instead. Make that shower and extra fun one by sharing it with your partner. Not only will you be getting wet and wild time, you'll be saving a lot of water at the same time. But if the moment gets too heated up, remember to turn off the shower before you proceed to the bedroom.
Another thing you can do is to resist that urge of blow drying your hair. Let it dry off naturally if you have a lot of time before heading out or, you can unwind the windows of your car on your way to that date. Nothing beats a natural and cost efficient way of hair styling.

Eco friendly undies
Yup, you read that right! Organic cotton, hemp silk, bamboo, and other renewable fibres make ultra-sexy lingerie and underwear. We suggest shelling out the extra bucks for something classy, sexy, and sustainable that can be donned when the mood is right for years to come rather than one off novelty panties that tatters in less than a year.
Ditch the car
Pack a couple of backpacks with an organic gourmet lunch for two, take those rusty bicycles out of the store room and head to the nearest park. When you reach your destination, find the best spot to sit on and whip out the picnic. Feed each other grapes, organic cheese and organic wine. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature and each other's company.
Green gifts
If you’re planning on giving that special someone a gift then try organic massage oils, fair trade chocolate or a bottle of biodynamic red wine. These items are available at organic shops which aren't a rarity in Malaysia.
Be crafty at home
Get crafty and use recycled paper and natural plant dyes to make one of a kind, green works of art. Use a scrapbook to put your first date pictures in or re-write those romantic emails on recycled paper. You can also find your inner child and play board games rather than watching TV. Don't stop there, dig out that old Twister board and make it a little more interesting. You never know what position you may find yourselves in!
Put on a green summer party!
Introduce your special someone to your friends and family, and show them what you stand for by being green. BBQ with 100% natural, additive-free charcoal or use gas or electric for a more environmentally friendly option. Choose organic, free range meats or go vegetarian. Portobello mushrooms are a great burger substitute. Use regular dishes, glass cups and cloth napkins. Go to a thrift store and buy an extra set of cheap dishes and napkins just for BBQ's and casual parties. Promote being responsible and eco-friendly, while having fun in your new relationship.
Eco friendly holidays
Eco resorts are a great way to minimize your carbon footprint. If you don't mind spending a bit more money, go on a holiday to these destinations.
Borneo Highlands Resort is a unique eco-friendly resort in Kuching and is also known as the home of The Hornbill Golf and Jungle Club, which has a world class championship golf course. If you are both golf fans, beginner or want to learn this resort offers the perfect eco-friendly date and after a day out on the fairway you can both take advantage of the jungle Spa.
If golf isn’t your thing then what about Bukit Merah? It is three hours outside of KL and boasts the only conservational orang-utan island in Peninsular Malaysia, a unique eco-park with educational walk-in enclosures and a lakeside camping ground for the more adventurous.

Rihanna delays Malaysia show after alleged attack

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Pop superstar Rihanna has postponed a concert in Malaysia this week, organizers said Tuesday, following reports that she accused her longtime boyfriend Chris Brown of assault.

Rihanna's Los Angeles-based representatives informed Malaysia's Pineapple Concerts that the Feb. 13 show would have to be rescheduled to an unspecified date "in light of recent events involving Rihanna," Pineapple Concerts said in a statement to The Associated Press.
Rihanna had been slated to visit Indonesia and Malaysia on her "Good Girl Gone Bad" tour.
Her planned stop in Kuala Lumpur drew publicity after organizers said she would shun skimpy outfits to conform with Muslim-majority Malaysia's strict rules on performers' dress.
The Los Angeles Times, citing law enforcement officials familiar with the case and other sources it did not name, reported that Rihanna told police that Brown had hurt her the night before the Grammy Awards.
A police statement released Sunday said Brown and an unidentified woman began arguing while riding in a car following a pre-Grammy party where they were spotted together Saturday night. The fight escalated when they got out of the car, the report said.
The report indicated the woman was injured, but Brown was booked only on suspicion of making a criminal threat after walking into a police station Sunday night. Authorities said the district attorney could choose to expand the charges.

Fuel Price Reduced to RM2.55 Effective August 23

Most of the Malaysian didn't expect that the fuel price will be adjusted all in a sudden. Because, earlier news still announced that the new price will be announced by 31st.August, and take effective by 1st.September.
Petrol and diesel price will drop by between eight sen and 22 sen a litre from Saturday.
The price of RON97 petrol will be reduced by 15 sen to RM2.55 a litre from RM2.70, while RON92 would be 22 sen less at RM2.40, from RM2.62
The retail price of diesel would drop by eight sen to RM2.50 a litre.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah ahmad Badawi announced the new prices in a statement after Friday's Cabinet meeting.
He said the prices were determined by taking into account the actual price from Aug 1 to 21 and the 30 sen per litre subsidy borne by the government while the subsidy for diesel, based on the new price, was 50 sen a litre.
"The cabinet decided to bring forward the enforcement date for adjustment of the new petrol price," he said

Malaysia Fuel Price Reduce By 1st.September

Announced by Malaysia Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on 20th.Aug., the Malaysia Government will announce the new fuel prices on Aug 31, which will take effect on Sept 1.

He said the new price would be based on the average fuel prices throughout the month of August and after deducting the 30-sen subsidy per litre.

"We are now monitoring the fuel price (in the international market) and I hope it will continue its downward trend," he said after chairing the 4th National Water Resources Council meeting at the parliament house today.
He said it was still too early to predict how far the prices of petrol and diesel could be lowered.
"It is still too early... We still have about ten days to go and I hope there will be no more increase in the price of fuel," he said.

Petrol Station Chao caused by Hike Price

The price increased for petrol yesterday had caused chaos scene in every petrol station in Malaysia. Most of the main road was jammed with vehicle lined up from station until 1st. or even 2nd. lane of main road. Drivers temper were getting hot due to traffic jammed and long queue, and angrily at those who jumped queue. In some area in Terengganu, people even prepare equipments to fill up petrol, and polices were assigned to control the chao situation.

Since the petrol price will be revised every month, these kind of chao condition will happen again by end of this month if the price increase again?

On another hands, even though the oil price in world market had shot up to US$ 135, but Malaysia Airlines managing director and chief executive Datuk Seri Idris Jala had commented that there is no shortage of oil in the world and its present price level was driven up by unreal speculation. According to him, as an ex-oilman ( he was a former senior executive with Shell Plc based in London and the Hague for almost 20 years), the fair value of crude oil at present should be only US$40.

Petrol Price Increase to RM2.70 a litre

Is that true ???? RM2.70 /litre??

Effective midnight tonight, the price for each litre of petrol will go up by 78 cents, about 40 % increase from RM1.92 to RM2.70. SMS was flying everywhere. The news spread in seconds.

At first I felt doubt about the SMS, because this morning paper headlines just showing it will only happened in August. And, people all discussing about the floating price application. Who know in the same day the price will go up? Somemore about 40% increased!

About 6:15pm, when passing through down town, found that the town was extremely flooded with vehicles, especially the entrance road to Petrol Station, doesn't matter Shell, Petronas or Mobil station. People queuing up rushing for the petrol, and the scene was like car queuing up in Spielberg's movie "War of the World". The tense was undescribable.

Olympic Flame Arrive Kuala Lumpur

Finally, the Olympic flame had arrived KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) from Bangkok in 20th.April early morning. The Beijing Olympic torch relay will be started today (21st.April) 2:00pm from Dataran Merdeka until KLCC. The flame will also be carried to the top of Kuala Lumpur Tower before ending at KLCC. The Kuala Lumpur leg would properly take about 4 hrs to complete and about 80 selected runners will be involved in this 16.5km run, after the launching ceremony in Dataran Merdeka. Meanwhile most of the major road entrance will be temporary blocked until the event is successfully completed.

This time, only 21 cities outside China were given the privilege to host a leg of the Olympic torch relay and it is only the second time Malaysians will get to witness the historic event up close.
Malaysia last hosted a leg of the torch relay in 1964 when Japan became the first Asian country to host the Olympics.

Since the pro-Tibetan independence activists had disrupted the run in London and Paris, security has become an issue at each leg of the torch relay. In fact, the relay route was also been modified in San Francisco because of security concerns. Thus, Malaysia would also pay extra attention on the security to ensure smoothness of the torch relay. About 1,000 policemen would be in the torch run group to ensure that nothing untoward happens during the relay. The Special Action Squad will form a cordon around the torchbearers throughout the route.

Malaysia F1 2008

The new season of F1, Formula One World Championship is back. The 2008 grand opens in Melbourne, Australia, and the Round 2 will be hosted in Malaysia, Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from 21st. to 23rd.March..

SIC will work closely with Tourism Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the Ministry of Federal Territory to turn Kuala Lumpur into a city of festivals. SIC targeted to attract 125,000 spectators to this year F1 event. This target is possible to achieve, because last year they had managed to capture about 115,000 spectators. One of the strategy is to target on foreign spectators from Singapore. In last year, the Singapore market had contributed not less than 20,000 spectators, and this year SIC intend to rise it to not less than 50,000 Singapore spectators. In order to promote the event to more Singaporean, SIC had run concentrate road show and continous promotion in Malacca and Johor Baru city. Where this two cities are popular spots for weekend retreats among Singaporeans.

Organised since 1999, the Formula One Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix is more than just a race for Malaysia as it has become an effective promotion of Malaysia in the international arena, especially as a tourist destination.

MATTA Fair 2008

Just came back from MATTA Fair 2008 in Putra World Trade Centre. Today is the first day of the fair, and it will be end by this Sunday evening. As expected, it was extremely clouded. But we estimated tomorrow and Sunday would be peak.

We'd arrive there about 2:00pm, had collected many brouchers and package information. Doesn't matter you need it or not, the stuff from each travel agencies will just try pushing all the brouchers to you. It might due to too many travel agencies there and the business competition was too hot. Well, you just don't know how to choose. After visiting some booths, I already felt exhausted will all loaded packages information. My minds was totally out. Don't know what to choose.

Some offers were really cheap, but you have to be careful. Most of its were using Air Asia flight. That is the reason why they can offer so low price. And, some more you have to ask whether it's covered for airport tax and air flight fuel. If it's excluded, you better put its into your mind to add in your budgets. Besides, you should also ask what type of hotel is in the package? Is there any options to choose? Up to what standard is the hotel (how many stars)? Normally they will allow you to upgrade the hotel (eg. from 3 stars to 4 stars; from border location to downtown), but there will be additional charges. So, all this kinds of options and upgrade consideration will put the decision more complicated.

If you are confusing and can't really make up your mind, I suggest you find a seat in the food and beverage booths which located nearby, and order a cup coffee. Then, carefully review back every information you had collected just now. If you still can't make up your mind ( I know it's tough. In fact I can't make up my mind in the fair), then I suggest you do as I did. Bring back all the information and discuss again with your spouse or family member who will join your trip. Then find the best and drop by the fair again by tomorrow or Sunday.

In fact I already made my decision now for my vacation plan, and I'm going to drop by the fair by tomorrow afternoon again. I hope you will find yours in this MATTA Fair 2008.

MATTA FAIR

MATTA (Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents) has organized its famous travelling fair in PWTC (Putra World Trade Centre) from 14th.March until 16th.March. Since this fair in held during Malaysia school holidays, expected will able attract many participants. In fact, many big tour agencies had already started published their offer packages on press weeks ago. And, some rumors even stated that without visting their counters in the fair, they could offer the same price for same package during the period by dropping by their branches. But, how true is it? We don't know. If really true, some people might try escape from the clouded event and just make their convenient by ordering through the agents. Well, this strategy may look like taking advantages to the fair and will raise the question on business ethics and being unfair to the fair organiser. Any how, personally I don't think this will bring a big impact to the event. By looking back to previous results, the fair seem well known and welcomed by most of Malaysian.

Some of the most famous travel agencies who has participated in this fair are Holiday Tours, Qantas-British Airways, Reliance Travel, Royal Brunei, Berjaya Holidays and etc. For Airlines, they are not only offer air tickets, but you can also choose a trip package from them. The package is of cause much cheaper then booking the hotel and air ticket separately.

Compare to MAS (Malaysia Airlines) Fair which was held in last month, February 2008, MATTA Fair is more welcome by most of Malaysian. This is because MAS Fair was offer air tickets instead of tour package. It was more benefited to people who used to travel for business purpose or same destination for certain reasons. If you only buy the air tickets (even though in very cheap price) in MAS Fair, and book the hotel or accomodation in separate ways, you can't get a very reasonable price for staying and others park ticketing. So, since MATTA organiser had announced this fair long ago, people will keep waiting for another one month. MATTA Fair was so well known by people through its pass achievement.

Some of my friends commented that they rather to go visit the fair even though it's expected extremely clouded. Because you would have more options to choose and sometimes might get surprise prizes or special price on certain packages. One of my friend, on last year event, had even won a free trip to Thailand by lucky draw. So, majority still willing to go visit the fair, only if you'd already decided your trip destination and you only honour to certain tour agencies.

This event is not hold once a year. If you are not able to make it, or if you only able to have your holiday by end of this year, let say November or December. Then you still can catch it for the 2nd. round which will held from 10th. to 12th.October. I expect the venue will be same at PWTC.
Besides that, in between, MATTA will also hold another two similar fairs, which is although much smaller, in Penang and Seremban. For Penang MATTA Fair, it will be hold at PISA (Penang International Sports Arena) from 4th.July to 6th.July 2008. While Seremban MATTA Fair will be hold at Seremban Parade Shopping Centre from 11th.July to 13th.July 2008.

MATTA Fair, March 2008

Malaysia MATTA Fair is back and will be held from today, 14th.Mach until this coming Sunday, 16th.March. The event will be held in Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

This is the time where PWTC will be clouded with visitors. People who has plan or without any plan for vacation will drop by catching for cheap vacation package or fly tickets. Air Asia’s competitor, Firefly which was established since last year, April 2007, has offered tickets as low as RM9.99 (excluding airport tax and fuel surcharge) for domestic and regional flight, plus others various choice of holiday packages.
